A Continuation of UE5

GAM310

DESCRIPTION

Similar to last years GART250 I have been set an open brief. The project also aligned nicely with grads for games' "Search for a Star" competition so I decided to mound my project around this entry:

"Create a game-ready movement sequence based on typical game movement states, presented in Unreal Engine 5."

I took this and decided to expand my knowledge of Unreal and make an advanced locomotion system blending multiple state machines to fit the criteria.

Alongside this I made a set of key-framed locomotion animations to add into engine. More information about the projects development can be found below.

After Submitting to Search for a star I was selected as one of the 5 finalists where I was invited to Sheffield for the awards event, while I didn't win the feedback I got was invaluable and later found out I didn't need to make a full state machine system, just to put them in engine (oops).

Conclusion

While the Project had some hic-ups overall it was a net positive, at a similar time of doing this project I had started setting up and leading Falmouth's Motion Capture Team so has finding it hard to keep focus on hand key animation when I knew I could just Mocap and clean what I did. Looking back I'm glad I have the skills to do both.
